Old Bohemian Light Beer Flat Top

Eastern Brewing Corporation, situated in Hammonton, New Jersey, occupied a notable position in mid-century American brewing as the municipality's sole commercial brewery. Operating out of its facility on North Washington Street, Eastern Brewing was widely recognized throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for both contract packaging and its own lineup of value-oriented offerings, with Old Bohemian serving as one of its most recognizable and enduring flagship brands.

The Old Bohemian Light Beer flat top can represents a classic example of mid-twentieth-century regional beverage marketing. Packaging from Eastern Brewing regularly emphasized local sourcing, frequently featuring label text noting that the beer was brewed with pure artesian well water drawn from southern New Jersey's aquifer. Visually, the label incorporated traditional heraldic elements and prominent crest motifs paired with bold typography to maintain shelf appeal against expanding national competitors.

Among breweriana collectors, the can is recognized as a key piece representing independent New Jersey brewing history during an era of significant industry consolidation. Variations exist across different production runs, exhibiting subtle differences in mandatory regulatory text, side-panel legal notices, and manufacturer seam markings. The Old Bohemian Light Beer flat top remains a central collector's piece representing the manufacturing heritage of the historic Hammonton plant.
