Old Bohemian Style Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Forest City Old Bohemian Flat Top

The Old Bohemian Style Lager Beer flat top was produced for Forest City Brewery, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio. Packaged in a standard 12-ounce steel container manufactured by the American Can Company, this can represents a notable chapter in post-Prohibition brewing across the industrial Midwest.

Cleveland was a bustling hub of regional brewing, and Forest City Brewery was among the local establishments that embraced early canned packaging. The can includes the American Can Company's "Keglined" trademark alongside instructional side-panel graphics, reflecting the early era of instructional can design.

Aesthetically, the face of the can highlights bold typography with traditional Bohemian-themed branding and ornamental borders. Variations of this design are recognized in the collector community, exhibiting subtle differences in layout, mandatory tax statements, and color tones across different canning runs.

Because Forest City Brewery operated for a relatively short window in the post-Repeal period, surviving examples of this label remain sought-after pieces of Ohio brewing history.
