Old Dutch Brand Ale Quart

Old Dutch Brand Ale Quart History

The Old Dutch Brand Ale Quart is a notable piece of mid-century New York brewing heritage, manufactured for Old Dutch Brewers, Inc., located on East 42nd Street and Glenwood Road in Brooklyn, New York. Emerging from Brooklyn's vibrant post-Prohibition brewing scene, the container highlights the city's active history of regional beverage packaging.

Large-format quart cans from this era command substantial interest among breweriana enthusiasts for their impressive display presence and bold lithography. The Old Dutch design incorporates traditional branding elements and distinctive typography that reflect the regional aesthetic of New York breweries from the period.

Old Dutch packaged both beer and ale across various formats, and the quart ale remains especially prized among collectors specializing in large-format containers and New York labels. These cans feature Continental Can Company Cap-Sealed fabrication markings along with the historical Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) regulatory text.

Collectors recognize distinct variations across the Old Dutch canning runs, with subtle differences appearing in the metallic base layers, text weights, and mandatory label placement. The can remains a celebrated artifact of Brooklyn's industrial canning legacy.
