Old Dutch Brand Beer Flat Top

The Old Dutch Brand Beer flat top can represents a notable chapter in the industrial brewing history of Findlay, Ohio. Originally introduced by Findlay's Krantz Brewing Corporation, the Old Dutch label earned a devoted regional following before Krantz merged with Detroit-based International Breweries, Inc. (IBI). Following the merger, the Findlay plant operated under the company's regional network as the Old Dutch-Frankenmuth Division, continuing to package and distribute the popular brand.

The can showcases mid-century corporate graphic styling combined with long-standing brand heritage. It prominently features the Old Dutch typography alongside promotional endorsements such as "Quality Certified By International's Master Brewers" and the Findlay, Ohio mandatory brewery line.

For breweriana collectors, the can serves as a classic artifact of mid-century Midwest brewing consolidation. During its production run at the Findlay facility, multiple variations were produced, including metallic and enamel background finishes, slight text modifications on the mandatory statements, and lids stamped for regional state tax requirements. Because the Findlay plant ceased brewing operations in the mid-1960s prior to the brand's sale to subsequent brewing conglomerates, cans bearing the International imprint from Findlay remain coveted pieces of northwest Ohio breweriana.
