Old England Beer Flat Top Can

Fox Head Old England Flat Top

Produced by the Fox Head Brewing Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin, the Old England Beer flat top is a prized piece of Midwestern brewing history. Fox Head, known for brewing its beverages with Waukesha's mineral spring water, released Old England Beer as a specialized label evoking classic British brewing tradition.

Design and Aesthetics

The visual composition of the can is anchored by traditional Old English typography and ornate scrollwork set against a light background. A central feature of the label is an illustrated sailing galleon navigating open waters, reinforcing the historic maritime theme associated with the brand name. The combination of dark accents, metallic framing, and decorative flourishes gives the can a distinctive presence among mid-century breweriana.

Collectibility and Rarity

Fox Head canned a variety of regional brands, but Old England Beer was produced in far more limited quantities than the brewery's primary flagship lines. Because of this shorter distribution footprint, surviving cans are uncommon and in high demand among Wisconsin can specialists. Unlike many regional contemporaries that went through a succession of minor text and graphic modifications over years of canning, Old England Beer is notable for having very little recorded design variation throughout its production run. Today, it remains an esteemed addition to collections focusing on Wisconsin brewing history and vintage graphic art.
