Old Export Brand Beer Cone Top Can

Old Export Cone Top History

The Old Export Brand Beer cone top can represents the flagship label produced by the Cumberland Brewing Company of Cumberland, Maryland. Operating from North Centre Street, Cumberland Brewing Company stood alongside Queen City Brewing Company as one of the defining regional beverage producers in Western Maryland.

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, this high-profile container carried the signature Old Export typography and contrasting color scheme designed for immediate recognition in mid-Atlantic taverns and retail displays. Old Export served as the brewery's primary volume brand, marketed heavily to local industrial workers, railroad laborers, and Appalachian communities.

Collectors encounter several variations of this can, primarily distinguished by regulatory and manufacturing text shifts. Variations exist bearing the mandatory Internal Revenue Tax Paid ("IRTP") statement, alongside later releases issued after the tax statement requirement was repealed. Further known variations feature slight adjustments in mandatory brewery address text, bottom rim stamps, and side-seam can manufacturer codes.
