Old Export Brand Beer Cone Top Can

Cumberland's Old Export Cone Top

The Old Export Brand Beer cone top can was produced by the Cumberland Brewing Company of Cumberland, Maryland. Old Export served as the flagship brand for the historic brewery, which operated out of its North Centre Street facility and stood as a prominent regional competitor to the neighboring Queen City Brewing Company.

The can features bold typography and classic industrial lithography representative of mid-century packaging design. As a staple of Western Maryland brewing history, the Old Export label was widely distributed across the Mid-Atlantic region. Over the course of its manufacturing life, minor graphic and text variations appeared, including subtle differences in mandatory brewery text and side panel layouts.

Following the broader consolidation of the regional brewing industry, Cumberland Brewing Company eventually merged operations with Queen City Brewing Company, making original Old Export containers an important piece of Maryland breweriana documentation.
