Old Milwaukee Beer 10 Oz Tab Top Can

Memphis Old Milwaukee 10 Oz Can

The Old Milwaukee Beer 10-ounce tab top can produced by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company represents an important era in the brand's nationwide distribution. Packaged at Schlitz's high-capacity facility on East Raines Road in Memphis, Tennessee, this 10-ounce format was distributed across regional markets throughout the southern United States and select export territories.

Facility Background

During Schlitz's expansion in the 1970s, the Memphis location served as one of the company's major modern packaging hubs. Cans packaged at this plant feature mandatory text specifically noting Jos. Schlitz Brewing Co. in Memphis, Tennessee, either as a standalone origin line or highlighted within a multi-plant city list alongside facilities such as Milwaukee, Tampa, Longview, Los Angeles, and Winston-Salem.

Label Graphics and Variations

The exterior displays Old Milwaukee's traditional branding, characterized by bold red typography, traditional crest iconography, and clean color blocking. The 10-ounce volume was produced alongside the standard 12-ounce and 16-ounce formats to cater to specific consumer packaging preferences.

Collectors document known variations among these Memphis-issued cans, which feature differences in side-panel mandatory phrasing, city listing configurations, and seam fabrication details.
