Old Milwaukee Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Longview Old Milwaukee Tab Top Can

The Old Milwaukee 12-ounce can produced under the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company banner represents an integral chapter in regional packaging history. Jos. Schlitz established its Longview, Texas facility to support expanding distribution networks throughout Texas and the wider southern market, eventually complementing the brewhouse with dedicated aluminum container production operations on-site.

Old Milwaukee served as Schlitz's primary value-tier label, achieving widespread distribution across the country. For packaging historians and breweriana collectors, examples tracing back to the Longview packaging plant carry notable regional significance. The can graphics feature traditional Old Milwaukee branding, characterized by bold script, striking red and blue accents, and clean lithography over a reflective metallic background.

A key focal point for collectors is the brewery mandatory printed along the seam line. This text credits the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company with Longview, Texas specified as a packaging site, appearing either as an individual plant credit or integrated within a multi-city mandatory list.

Throughout its manufacturing history, different container suppliers provided cans to the Longview operations, resulting in subtle production variations. Collectors track variations in base metallic sheen, shifts in the seam mandatory text placement, and minor differences in rim crimping and lid construction.
