Old Milwaukee Genuine America's Light Genuine Draft 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Old Milwaukee Light Draft Can

The Old Milwaukee Genuine America's Light Genuine Draft can produced by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, stands as a notable artifact from a defining era of American brewing history. Originally positioned by Schlitz to compete aggressively in the domestic value market, Old Milwaukee was distributed nationally with prominent slogans such as "America's Light Genuine Draft" to highlight tavern-style draft character in packaged containers.

The design features the classic Old Milwaukee aesthetic, distinguished by strong red banner accents and bold lettering set against a clean background. Mandatory text citing Milwaukee, Wisconsin anchors this can to the historic home plant of Jos. Schlitz during the height of the company's manufacturing expansion.

Among collectors of breweriana, known variations exist across production runs, displaying differences in mandatory text formatting, seam width construction, and minor graphic placements. The container remains an emblematic showcase of mid-century Midwest brewing competition and large-scale industrial packaging history.
