Old Milwaukee Genuine Draft 14 Oz Tab Top Can

Old Milwaukee 14 Oz Odd-Size Can

The Old Milwaukee Genuine Draft 14 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in breweriana, particularly among collectors focused on odd-sized containers issued by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

While 12 oz formats served as the standard and 16 oz half-quarts filled the larger tier, 14 oz cans were produced as regional and test-market alternatives. Breweries used the 14 oz size in select markets to meet specific price points or to give buyers extra volume without moving to a full pint. Because distribution was restricted to specific regional territories rather than nationwide rollout, this can is a prized find for odd-size tab enthusiasts.

The can prominently showcases the 'Genuine Draft' branding from the Jos. Schlitz era, featuring the iconic Old Milwaukee script over a bright white and metallic finish accented by bold red detailing and traditional heraldic emblems. Collectors track variations of this can, which feature differences in mandatory text and mandatory city designations across various Schlitz canning plants.
