Old Milwaukee Pale Gold Beer Pint Can

Old Milwaukee Pale Gold Pint Can

The Old Milwaukee Pale Gold Beer Pint Can is an iconic piece of mid-century breweriana manufactured for the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Produced as Schlitz expanded the Old Milwaukee label into a prominent national value brand, this sixteen-ounce package presents the traditional mid-century aesthetic that defined the label during its pivotal growth era.

Design and Visual Presentation

The face of the can features Old Milwaukee’s signature metallic pale gold background accented by bold red and white branding elements. Central to the label is the prominent Old Milwaukee logotype in stylized gothic script, flanked by heraldic motifs and the bold descriptor phrase “Pale Gold Beer.” The bottom mandatory text identifies Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reinforcing the heritage connection to one of America’s historic brewing powerhouses.

Collector Notes and Variations

While standard twelve-ounce cans bearing the Pale Gold design were distributed across multiple regional Schlitz packaging facilities, the larger sixteen-ounce pint format holds a distinct status within the hobby due to lower production runs relative to standard consumer sizes.

Among breweriana collectors, several variations exist across production runs. Documented differences include variations in manufacturer markings along the seam, mandatory legal text placement, and subtle differences in gold lacquer tint and crest detailing. The pint can remains an essential focal point for regional Milwaukee collectors and enthusiasts focusing on Jos. Schlitz brand history.
