The Old Reading Beer flat top can represents a notable piece of mid-Atlantic brewing heritage from Berks County, Pennsylvania. Produced by the Old Reading Brewery in Reading, Pennsylvania, this container highlights the brewery's regional identity and connection to Pennsylvania Dutch culture.

The can design prominently displays the Old Reading brand name, often accompanied by slogans celebrating local heritage such as "Traditionally Pennsylvania Dutch". The Old Reading Brewery, which operated out of its facility at 9th and Laurel Streets in Reading, was an established regional producer in eastern Pennsylvania. Collectors appreciate this label for its classic typography and mid-century aesthetic, capturing an era when regional packaging emphasized local roots.

Throughout its production run, the can was fabricated by major packaging suppliers such as the Continental Can Company. Known variations exist across different production batches, showcasing differences in mandatory brewery text, font styling, and can manufacturer markings. In addition, examples can be found featuring state-mandated tax stamps on the lids, reflecting regional distribution requirements of the period.

Today, this flat top can remains a recognized staple for collectors focusing on Pennsylvania breweriana and the legacy of Reading's independent brewing industry.
