Old Style Lager Beer Cone Top Can

Historic Heileman Cone Top Can

Produced by the G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin, this cone top can represents one of the most recognized Midwestern beer labels. Serving as the flagship brand for the regional brewery, Old Style Lager established a massive following throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and the greater Upper Midwest.

The can design prominently showcases traditional Old Style typography anchored by the brewery's shield emblem and the signature of founder Gottlieb Heileman. Examples often incorporate the classic banner stating "None Genuine Without This Signature," reassuring consumers of authentic brewery packaging. Certain iterations also feature the text "Same As Bottle" directly beneath the upper rim, highlighting that the canned offering matched the standard of the brewery's bottled product.

Manufactured on Continental Can Company low-profile "Cap-Sealed" bodies, the cans reflect the shifting regulatory landscape of mid-century brewing. Various variations exist across surviving examples, demonstrating different mandatory Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) markings as well as differing state-specific alcohol volume statements. As an artifact representing G. Heileman's historic operations along the Mississippi River, this cone top remains a staple piece of Wisconsin brewing heritage.
