Old Style Lager Beer Cone Top Can

Heileman Old Style Cone Top Can

The Old Style Lager Beer Cone Top Can was produced by the G. Heileman Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin. First introduced around the turn of the twentieth century, Old Style served as the flagship label for Heileman and grew into one of the most prominent regional beer brands in the Upper Midwest.

Design and Features

The can's graphics prominently display the traditional Old Style brand crest, company shield, and founder Gottlieb Heileman's signature. Containers produced during this era were manufactured using Continental Can Company's "Cap-Sealed" format. Collectors identify examples spanning both low-profile and high-profile cone designs, often featuring the era-specific "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) marking alongside state-mandated alcohol control statements.

Variations and Collector Significance

Known variations exist across the production history of this can. Documented differences include variations in alcohol statement text (such as specific percentage limits by weight or volume), rim and bottom profiles (including inverted rib bottom constructions), and front-panel text additions such as the "Same As Bottle" notation printed along the top rim.

As a core artifact from G. Heileman's brewing empire, the Old Style cone top remains a staple acquisition for collectors focusing on Midwestern breweriana and historical Cap-Sealed cans.
