Old Tap Ale Flat Top Can

Fall River's Old Tap Ale

Produced by the Enterprise Brewing Company in Fall River, Massachusetts, the Old Tap Ale flat top can represents an iconic regional label from southern New England. Enterprise Brewing operated from its historic facility on Glasgow Street, serving local taverns and package stores across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Manufactured by the American Can Company, the design showcases mid-century commercial styling with bold script lettering and heraldic branding. Collectors note known variations of the Old Tap Ale design, featuring differences in background treatments—such as metallic gold and enamel finishes—along with minor text adjustments.

As national brewing conglomerates consolidated market share during the mid-20th century, regional operations faced steep competition. Enterprise Brewing ultimately shuttered in the 1960s, making surviving cans from this Massachusetts brewery enduring historical artifacts for East Coast breweriana enthusiasts.
