Olde English Brand 600 Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Blitz-Weinhard Olde English 600

Produced by the historic Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon, the Olde English Brand 600 Malt Liquor 16 oz can represents a notable transitional chapter in American malt liquor history.

Historical Background

The lineage of the brand traces back to Peoples Brewing Company of Duluth, Minnesota, where it originated as Ruff's Olde English Stout. The brand was later rebranded as Olde English 600 and acquired by Bohemian Breweries of Spokane, Washington, before the rights moved to Blitz-Weinhard in Portland. Under Blitz-Weinhard's management, the Olde English moniker grew significantly in prominence throughout the Pacific Northwest and laid the groundwork for the brand's eventual national expansion into Olde English 800.

Can Design & Variations

This 16-ounce half-quart container features the classic Olde English brand styling, displaying the prominent "600" designation alongside traditional gothic script and heraldic emblem graphics. Across different manufacturing runs, variations exist with subtle differences in mandatory text arrangements, metallic finishes, and manufacturer markings from container suppliers such as the Continental Can Company.

For breweriana collectors, the 16 oz Blitz-Weinhard Olde English 600 can remains an important Pacific Northwest artifact that documents the evolution of one of the country's most enduring malt liquor names.
