Olde English Brand 600 Malt Liquor Flat Top Can

Spokane's Olde English 600 Legacy

The Olde English Brand 600 Malt Liquor Flat Top Can represents a notable chapter in Pacific Northwest breweriana as the early regional predecessor to one of the most widely recognized malt liquor brands in American brewing history. Produced by Bohemian Breweries in Spokane, Washington, the "600" series preceded the widespread national transition to the "800" moniker that followed subsequent corporate acquisitions.

Historical Context

Bohemian Breweries established the Olde English label to expand its portfolio across Washington, Idaho, and neighboring western markets. The packaging introduced the distinctive blackletter Old English typography and traditional heraldic crest motif that became enduring hallmarks of the brand's visual identity for decades to follow.

Can Variations

Collectors recognize variations among surviving examples. These differences primarily involve variations in mandatory brewery city listings, statutory alcohol content statements, and wording adjustments distinguishing standard malt liquor releases from stout malt liquor releases.

Because the brand subsequently transitioned to new ownership and the "800" designation, authentic Bohemian-brewed "600" cans remain prominent historical artifacts documenting the origins of a legendary label.
