Olde English Brand 600 Stout Malt Liquor Flat Top Can

Olde English 600 Spokane Can

The Olde English Brand 600 Stout Malt Liquor can is an important piece of Pacific Northwest breweriana, produced by Atlantic in Spokane, Washington.

Historical Context and Lineage

While the Olde English brand is widely recognized through its later national iterations, the "600" designation represents a notable regional chapter in the brand's history. Atlantic Brewing Company, operating in conjunction with Bohemian Breweries in Spokane, helped pioneer the brand across regional markets, utilizing the "Stout Malt Liquor" descriptor to establish the beverage in the growing malt liquor segment.

Can Design and Imagery

The face of the can features traditional blackletter typography set against heraldic design elements, creating an aesthetic centered on tradition and strength. The bold "600" marker and "Stout Malt Liquor" titling anchor the label, complemented by Spokane mandatory brewery markings along the side panels.

Collector Variations

Breweriana collectors track variations of this Spokane release across different production runs. Documented variations include shifts in state-mandated alcohol content statements, differing company division text on the seam panels, and differing can manufacturer marks.
