Olde English Brand "800" Malt Liquor 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Olde English 800 16 Oz Can

Originally tracing its lineage to Ruff's Olde English Stout produced by Minnesota's Peoples Brewing Company, the label was subsequently rebranded as Olde English 600 by Bohemian Breweries in Spokane, Washington, before finding a home with the Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon. Blitz-Weinhard reformulated and launched the beverage under the Olde English "800" moniker, establishing what would eventually evolve into one of the most culturally recognizable malt liquor labels in American brewing history.

During its tenure in Portland, the brand saw immense regional growth, ultimately becoming Blitz-Weinhard's top-selling product prior to the brewery's sale to Pabst. The 16-ounce pint format provided a larger single-serve serving size favored in the malt liquor market segment alongside traditional 12-ounce releases.

Visually, the can features the brand's classic heraldic elements, centered around bold Old English blackletter typography and prominent "800" numerical branding. Variations of this 16-ounce container exist across different production runs, reflecting minor text placement shifts, mandatory statement adjustments, and manufacturer marks. For collectors of Pacific Northwest breweriana and vintage malt liquor packaging, this Blitz-Weinhard pint can represents a pivotal chapter in the label's history before it expanded into a nationwide mass-market staple.
