Ox Cart Standard Dry Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Rochester's Ox Cart Zip Top

The Ox Cart Standard Dry Beer can is a notable piece of Upstate New York brewing history, produced by the Standard Rochester Brewing Company in Rochester, New York. Standard Rochester marketed this label alongside other regional staples in its recognizable "Ox" line of beverages, which also featured brands such as Old Ox Head.

The can design is highlighted by its rustic ox-and-wagon motif framed by bold typography and clean graphic paneling. It prominently features the brewery's signature slogan, "Brewed And Packaged The Modernized Way," along with mandatory brewery text identifying Standard Rochester.

Collectors of New York breweriana value the zip top iteration as an artifact of the brewery's evolution in regional packaging. Known variations exist across different manufacturing runs, showcasing subtle differences in union label placement, seam alignment, and minor textual adjustments in the mandatory statements. Because distribution was concentrated primarily in Western New York and surrounding markets, this can remains an important staple of Rochester's commercial brewing heritage.
