Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Newark Pabst Blue Ribbon Tab Top

The Pabst Blue Ribbon 12 oz tab top can associated with Newark, New Jersey, highlights a prominent chapter in the East Coast production history of the Pabst Brewing Company. Pabst established its primary northeastern hub by acquiring the former Hoffmann Beverage Company facility situated along Grove Street and South Orange Avenue. The location became famous for its landmark 50,000-gallon water tank shaped like a giant beverage bottle, visible to commuters passing by on the Garden State Parkway.

From a graphic standpoint, the can showcases the classic Pabst Blue Ribbon livery: the hallmark diagonal blue sash across a white background, centered over the traditional red-and-gold company crest. Mandatory text panels denote the brewery's presence in Newark, New Jersey, frequently listed alongside other central Pabst brewing locations such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Peoria Heights, Illinois; and Los Angeles, California.

Collectors recognize several label and manufacturing variations across its production. Notable differences include variations in city order within the mandatory text, shifts in the typography and placement of the volume statement, and subtle alterations in can seam construction and lid stamping. Cans bearing the Newark plant credit serve as significant historical artifacts of Pabst's major regional distribution network across the greater New York metropolitan market.
