PB Class "A" Beer from Eastern

The PB Class "A" Beer can represents a classic artifact from the Eastern Brewing Corporation of Hammonton, New Jersey. Operating out of its South Jersey facility, Eastern built a reputation in the breweriana world as one of the East Coast's most prolific canning powerhouses, producing an extensive portfolio of budget, regional, and private-label brands for supermarkets, wholesale distributors, and regional markets.

PB Class "A" was packaged under Eastern’s standard stable of house offerings. The front label features direct, utilitarian branding anchored by the prominent "PB" emblem and the "Class A" designation, mimicking official grade and quality marks popular across mid-century American packaging. The design is characterized by crisp geometric framing and stark, bold lettering that ensured high visibility on store shelves.

Because Eastern Brewing Corporation supplied beer across several regional distribution networks, cans bearing the PB Class "A" label appeared in different canning iterations. Variations exist in brewery address text, mandatory canning statements, and slight color shifts across production runs. In addition to beer, the company also applied the PB Class "A" brand to companion offerings like ale and bock during its lifespan.

Today, the can remains a favored piece among East Coast breweriana collectors and those who specialize in contract-brewed regional labels from New Jersey’s rich industrial brewing heritage.
