Peoples Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Peoples Lager from Hammonton, NJ

The Peoples Lager Beer flat top can represents an interesting chapter of regional brewing history from Hammonton, New Jersey. Canned under the Colonial Brewing moniker—an operating trade name associated with the prolific Eastern Brewing Corporation facility on North Washington Street—this can highlights the specialized label marketing and contract brewing operations that defined post-war New Jersey breweriana.

Eastern Brewing Corporation was widely known within the industry for utilizing various alternate brewery names to package an extensive portfolio of budget-friendly and localized brands. Marketed under the Colonial Brewing imprint, Peoples Lager was packaged in standard 12-ounce steel flat top containers to supply value-conscious consumers across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Visually, the can features classic mid-century commercial typography, showcasing bold lettering for the brand name across the front face. Collectors of New Jersey breweriana and regional flat tops value this container as an essential piece representing the diverse output of the Hammonton brewery. Examples of this can have also been found bearing distinct state tax stamps on the lids, providing tangible evidence of its distribution across neighboring state borders.
