Pfeiffer Famous Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Pfeiffer Famous Beer Evansville Can

The Pfeiffer Famous Beer 12 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in Midwestern brewing history under the Associated Brewing Company banner. Originating in Detroit in 1889, the Pfeiffer brand expanded significantly during the mid-20th century. Following corporate growth and mergers, Pfeiffer evolved into Associated Brewing Company, operating production facilities across the region, including the plant located in Evansville, Indiana.

Design and Brewery Heritage

This steel container displays the classic Pfeiffer graphic identity, featuring bold branding set against metallic and contrasting colored backgrounds. As part of Associated Brewing Company's multi-plant manufacturing and distribution strategy, the can carries mandatory brewery text citing Evansville, Indiana, often alongside sister brewing cities such as St. Paul and South Bend. Certain releases from this manufacturing run also highlight the promotional "Quik-Chill" marking, an industry marketing feature used to emphasize rapid cooling on steel containers.

Collector Variations

Among breweriana collectors, this can is known across different manufacturing batches produced by major container fabricators such as Crown Cork & Seal and the National Can Corporation. Variations exist among these releases, differing in canning company logos, copyright notations, seam alignments, and layout arrangements of the mandatory brewery text.

Because Associated Brewing Company eventually sold its brewing assets and brand portfolio to the G. Heileman Brewing Company in the early 1970s, cans bearing the Evansville, Indiana imprint from Associated serve as historical artifacts documenting the era of regional American brewery consolidation.
