Pickett's Of Dubuque Premium Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Pickett's Premium Beer from Dubuque

The Pickett's of Dubuque Premium Beer 12-ounce straight steel tab top can represents a notable era in Midwestern brewing history. It was produced by Jos. S. Pickett & Sons, Inc. in Dubuque, Iowa, operating out of the historic brewery complex situated near the Mississippi River at the foot of East 4th Street.

The brewery's origins traced back to the nineteenth-century Dubuque Star Brewing Company. In the early 1970s, former professional athlete turned master brewer Joseph S. Pickett Sr. acquired and modernized the facility, rebranding the operation under his family's name. During much of its tenure, Jos. S. Pickett & Sons held distinction as the sole operational commercial brewery in the state of Iowa, a point often emphasized in the company's regional marketing and packaging.

Pickett's of Dubuque served as the brewery's flagship label alongside specialized contract runs and themed collector releases. The can graphics display clean period typography and heraldic elements centered around the Pickett name, accompanied by Dubuque mandatory text. For breweriana collectors, this straight steel container stands as a quintessential artifact from Iowa's independent brewing heritage prior to the modern craft brewing movement.
