Pilser's XXXx Pale Ale Cone Top

The Pilser's XXXx Pale Ale cone top can is an iconic piece of New York brewing history, originating from the Pilser Brewing Company based in the Bronx, New York. Operating on the grounds of the historic former A. Hupfel Brewery site at 161st Street and St. Ann's Avenue, Pilser produced several packaged ales and lagers during the classic canning era.

The design of the can features bold, traditional ale branding prominently displaying the distinctive "XXXX" designation, a historic brewing mark signifying strength and quality in classic ale production. Graphic elements on the face incorporate clean mid-century typography and rich coloration associated with metropolitan New York beverage packaging.

Among breweriana collectors, the Pilser's ale line is recognized for its connection to New York City's evolving industrial brewing landscape, including later operational ties involving the Greater New York Brewery and Metropolis Brewery networks. Over its production run, packaging variations emerged, showing subtle adjustments in mandatory labeling, brewery corporate credits, tax-paid notices, and graphical accents across different canning runs.

Today, cans from the Pilser lineup remain sought-after artifacts of the Bronx's vibrant brewing heritage, representing an era when local regional breweries supplied the greater New York metropolitan market.
