Pocono Mountain Premium Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Pocono Mountain Fishing Beer Can

The Pocono Mountain Premium Beer can featuring the fishing motif was produced by D.G. Yuengling & Son of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Released in the late 1970s, this straight steel container was issued as part of a series celebrating the popular recreational pastimes and outdoor culture of Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.

Origins and Design

The Pocono Mountain series was conceived by beer collector Rick Haentjens and distributed locally through Party Beverage in Conyngham, Pennsylvania. Commissioned to capture the spirit of the region as an outdoor vacation destination, the series highlighted popular pastimes such as sailing, skiing, hunting, and fishing.

The fishing design showcases freshwater game fishing, a pursuit closely associated with the mountain streams and lakes of northeastern Pennsylvania. The label displays an illustrated game fish set alongside regional branding and text noting that the beer was brewed expressly for Haentjens at Yuengling's historic Pottsville facility.

Collectibility

Yuengling-contracted specialty and regional cans from this era remain popular among breweriana collectors. As one of several outdoor sports designs created under the Pocono Mountain label, this fishing edition serves as a distinctive piece of Pennsylvania's regional canning history.
