Potosi Good Old Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Potosi Good Old Beer Zip Top Can

The Potosi Good Old Beer 12 oz zip top can is an iconic piece of midwestern brewing heritage produced by the Potosi Brewing Company of Potosi, Wisconsin. Situated along the Great River Road near the Mississippi River, the historic regional brewery traced its origins back to 1852 and grew to become one of the most prominent independent breweries in southwestern Wisconsin before ending its original brewing operations in 1972.

The label presentation features the recognizable "Good Old" script along with the brewery's established branding and slogans, including "Mild Light and Smooth" and "Famous Since 1852". The bold color contrast and distinct typography made the can instantly recognizable on store shelves and tavern backbars across the Upper Midwest.

For breweriana collectors, cans bearing the Potosi imprint hold a distinguished position in hobby history. The historic brewery facility in Potosi was later restored and chosen as the home for the American Breweriana Association's National Brewery Museum, making the brewery's original packaging artifacts central to discussions of American breweriana preservation.

Among collectors, variations of the Good Old Beer zip top can are documented, differing in canning line seam characteristics, mandatory alcohol statement placements, and fine-print text arrangements across production runs. As a representative artifact from one of Wisconsin's classic heritage brewers, this can remains a popular staple for regional and national can collections alike.
