Primo Hawaiian Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Primo Hawaiian Beer Tab Top Can

The Primo Hawaiian Beer tab top can represents a notable chapter in Hawaiian brewing history under the stewardship of the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. Following Schlitz's acquisition of the historic Hawaii Brewing Corporation in the 1960s, the company modernized operations and canning lines for the islands' flagship label. Marketed proudly as "The Hawaiian Beer," Primo commanded immense local loyalty across the islands while serving as a popular keepsake for tourists visiting Oahu.

This 12-ounce container showcases the brand's mid-century visual identity, featuring bold island styling and the iconic Hawaiian warrior motif that became synonymous with Primo breweriana. The can's mandatory text designates the manufacturer as the Hawaii division of Jos. Schlitz Brewing in Honolulu, reflecting the period when brewing took place directly on Oahu before mainland consolidation.

Among breweriana hobbyists, this can remains a sought-after piece of Pacific brewing heritage. Collectors recognize variations of the release that feature differences in mandatory legal verbiage, can bottom profiles, and graphic ink alignments across manufacturing runs.
