Prost Pale Pilsner Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Prost Pale Pilsner Flat Top

The Prost Pale Pilsner Premium Beer Flat Top Can represents a notable release from Drewrys Ltd. U.S.A., Inc., originating from their South Bend, Indiana operations.

Brewery Background and Branding

Drewrys, originally established in Canada, expanded into the United States following the repeal of Prohibition by establishing its primary American brewing facility in South Bend. As Drewrys expanded its regional footprint across the Midwest, it introduced several secondary and specialty labels alongside its flagship line. The Prost brand adopted traditional German-themed brewing motifs, highlighted by the classic German toast "Prost" in prominent typography across the label face.

Graphic Design and Packaging Details

The can features bold typography and heraldic accents, presenting the brand as a traditional premium pilsner. Manufactured by major packaging companies of the era such as National Can Company, the container showcases standard lithographed steel construction.

A notable detail for collectors is the use of Drewrys' recognizable "Big D" insignia on embossed vanity lids found on select pressings. In addition, due to corporate expansions and plant affiliations—notably Drewrys' connection to Chicago operations like the Schoenhofen Edelweiss Brewing Company—label mandatories and side-panel text show distinct text shifts across different releases.

Collector Interest and Variations

Prost cans remain an appealing focus for breweriana collectors due to their clean design and departure from the standard Drewrys Mountie emblem. Variations exist across production runs, showcasing differences in brewery mandatory statements, canning codes, and vanity lid stampings.
