Rainier Beer Flat Top Can

Sicks' Spokane Rainier Flat Top

Produced by Sicks' Spokane Brewery in Spokane, Washington, this Rainier Beer flat top represents a notable chapter in Pacific Northwest brewing heritage. Operating under the regional brewing network established by Emil Sick, the Spokane facility functioned alongside the primary Seattle plant to supply Rainier across Eastern Washington, the Inland Empire, and neighboring markets.

Regional Identification and Variations

Cans filled at the Spokane location are identified by specific mandatory brewery text, distinguishing them from counterparts filled in Seattle. Breweriana enthusiasts recognize multiple variations of these Spokane-issued cans, which feature differences in mandatory statement layouts, adjustments in metallic background coloration, and varying top lids stamped with state-specific alcohol statements.

The Wind Tunnel Discovery

Spokane-labeled Rainier flat tops became central to one of the most famous events in breweriana history: the Seattle wind tunnel discovery. A massive cache of preserved Rainier cans from both the Seattle and Spokane operations was uncovered inside a decommissioned aeronautical wind tunnel in Washington. This landmark find brought widespread attention to the diverse graphic designs and regional mandatory variations produced by Sicks' brewing network, securing the Spokane mandatory flat top as a celebrated staple among collectors.
