Rainier Beer Flat Top Can

Spokane-Brewed Rainier Flat Top

Produced by Sicks' Spokane Brewery in Spokane, Washington, this Rainier Beer flat top represents an important chapter in Pacific Northwest brewing history. Under the leadership of Emil Sick, the enterprise operated regional production facilities in both Seattle and Spokane to supply Rainier products throughout Washington and the broader Inland Empire.

Mandatory Identification & Design

Cans filled at the Spokane facility are distinguished by mandatory brewery text crediting Sicks' Spokane Brewery, differentiating them from counterparts packaged at the primary Seattle plant. The graphic design centers on the classic red gothic Rainier script and regional heraldic crests set against metallic paneling.

Collector Variations

Breweriana collectors recognize several variations across production runs originating from the Spokane plant. These variations include subtle shifts in mandatory statement formatting, adjustments in metallic background coloration, and distinct state-mandated alcohol tax statements stamped onto the top lids. The Spokane facility also produced flat tops associated with decorative illustrated toast and pictorial series themes.

The Seattle Wind Tunnel Discovery

Rainier flat tops from the Spokane plant gained widespread acclaim in breweriana collecting through what is celebrated as one of the most remarkable discoveries in the hobby: the Seattle wind tunnel find. A massive cache of Rainier cans originating from both the Seattle and Spokane operations was discovered sealed inside a decommissioned aeronautical wind tunnel in Washington. This historic event brought significant collector attention to the regional mandatory text variants and established Spokane-issued Rainier flat tops as iconic pieces of Inland Northwest breweriana history.
