Rainier Beer Flat Top Can

Sicks' Spokane Rainier Flat Top

Produced by Sicks' Spokane Brewery in Spokane, Washington, this Rainier Beer flat top represents a notable regional chapter in Pacific Northwest brewing history. Under the leadership of brewing magnate Emil Sick, the enterprise expanded beyond its primary Seattle operations, utilizing the Spokane facility to package and distribute Rainier to markets across the Inland Empire, Eastern Washington, Idaho, and neighboring territories.

Regional Identification and Graphics

The can features classic Rainier branding highlighted by bold gothic script and heraldic crest elements. What sets this packaging apart from Seattle-filled counterparts is the mandatory brewery statement identifying Sicks' Spokane Brewery.

Breweriana collectors document several variations from the Spokane plant. These variations feature adjustments in mandatory statement typography and layout, subtle shifts in background metallic hues, and different state-mandated alcohol content statements stamped on the top lids to comply with diverse regional distribution requirements. Spokane also packaged decorative runs connected to celebratory toast themes and illustrated pictorial series.

The Seattle Wind Tunnel Discovery

Rainier flat tops from this era achieved widespread collector fame following the historic Seattle wind tunnel discovery. An extensive cache of Rainier cans originating from both the Spokane and Seattle packaging facilities was discovered sealed inside a decommissioned aeronautical wind tunnel in Washington. This landmark event in breweriana history brought major hobby attention to Inland Northwest cans, spotlighting the regional mandatory text variants and design variations produced across Emil Sick's brewing network.
