Rainier Club Extra Pale Beer Cone Top Can

Rainier Club Extra Pale Cone Top

The Rainier Club Extra Pale Beer Cone Top Can is a classic West Coast collectible produced by the Rainier Brewing Company at their San Francisco, California facility. Manufactured on Continental Can Company's low-profile "Cap-Sealed" format, this can represents the era when Rainier maintained large-scale brewing and canning operations in Northern California alongside its Pacific Northwest presence.

Design and History

The can's lithography features the distinguished "Rainier Club" script alongside the brand's traditional red emblem and prominent "Extra Pale Beer" branding. Rainier positioned the Club label as a flagship product in California through the mid-20th century, before reformulating and rebranding the line as "Rainier Club Extra Dry" in 1947 under brewmaster Nicholas Vacano.

Collector Variants

Collectors recognize several variations of the Rainier Club Extra Pale cone top. Differences primarily appear in mandatory regulatory text, including variations in Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) phrasing, patent markings, and tax-exempt statements (such as "Withdrawn Free of Internal Revenue Tax") produced for military and overseas supply. Subtle variations in font size, mandatory margin texts, and canning plant marks along the seam also distinguish different manufacturing batches.
