Red Top Extra Dry Beer Flat Top Can

Red Top Extra Dry Flat Top Can

Produced by the Red Top Brewing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, the Red Top Extra Dry Beer flat top represents a memorable chapter in the Queen City's mid-century brewing history. Emerging from a company that expanded significantly following the repeal of Prohibition, Red Top grew to become one of the largest brewing operations in Ohio, distributing its products across dozens of states.

The Extra Dry brand emerged during the brewery's post-war expansion. Collectors frequently associate the Extra Dry label with Red Top's thematic set can releases, which featured illustrations of sporting and leisure pursuits such as golfing, fishing, baseball, and musical themes. These designs turned everyday retail cans into eye-catching graphic showpieces.

Across the production span of the Extra Dry flat top, multiple variations were issued, showing subtle differences in background color shades, metallic finishes, and side-panel manufacturer text. Cans from this era featured the classic Keglined trademark and the bold Red Top typography against vibrant green and metallic fields.

In the 1950s, the brewery made headlines by appointing former New York Yankees star Tommy Henrich as company president to revitalize sales. Following financial challenges and the eventual closure of the Cincinnati plant later that decade, rights to the brand briefly moved to Indiana, making original Cincinnati-brewed cans a distinguished staple of mid-century Midwest breweriana.
