Red White & Blue Special Lager Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Pabst's Southern-Brewed Value Can

The Red White & Blue Special Lager Beer tab top can represents a notable chapter in Pabst Brewing Company's regional packaging history, specifically tied to the company's southern production hub in Houston County, Georgia.

Brand Heritage

Although widely remembered as a high-volume value brand during the latter half of the twentieth century, Red White & Blue was first introduced by Pabst in 1899 to commemorate the Fourth of July. Billed under the long-running slogan "An Honest Beer at an Honest Price," the brand was crafted as an economical companion to Pabst Blue Ribbon. The label graphics feature a bold patriotic motif dominated by red, white, and blue color blocks, stars, and crisp traditional typography.

The Pabst, Georgia Brewery

The mandatory text on this container specifically designates its origin in Pabst, Georgia. In the late 1960s, Pabst broke ground on a massive multi-million dollar brewery near Perry, Georgia, selecting the site largely due to the region's pure artesian well water. When the plant opened in the early 1970s, the facility was such a prominent industrial anchor that the surrounding unincorporated area was given its own official postal identity as Pabst, GA.

Collector Notes & Variations

For breweriana collectors, cans bearing the Pabst, Georgia mandatory line are particularly sought after for regional collections focusing on Georgia and Southern brewing history. Because Pabst operated several major brewing centers nationwide—including Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Peoria Heights, Illinois; Newark, New Jersey; and Los Angeles, California—known variations exist across the brand's production runs. These variations typically differ in the sequence and inclusion of brewery city listings, mandatory text layout, and slight color or graphic alignment differences.
