Regal Bock 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Regal Bock Zip Top Can Overview

The Regal Bock 12 Oz Zip Top can was produced by the historic Maier Brewing Company of Los Angeles, California. Maier Brewing Company, known for its extensive portfolio of regional brands and contract brewing operations, packaged Regal Bock as a specialty seasonal offering for West Coast distribution.

Background and Graphic Design

Originally associated with Northern California brewing traditions through the Regal name, the label became part of Maier's production lineup at their downtown Los Angeles brewery. Unlike the flagship pale lagers that formed the bulk of high-volume canning runs, bock releases were typically limited to seasonal distribution, resulting in fewer overall containers produced for this specific label.

The graphic design of the Regal Bock can blends traditional bock aesthetic elements with established Regal branding. The face of the container features the prominent Regal script set against deep, rich coloring and classic seasonal bock motifs.

Collector Notes and Variations

Among breweriana collectors, the Regal Bock zip top represents a notable example of Maier's diversified label portfolio from the era. Known variations exist across production batches, featuring minor differences in side-panel mandatory text, brewery corporate wording, and can manufacturer markings. Because seasonal bock packaging runs were considerably smaller than standard lager runs, surviving examples remain desirable regional pieces for West Coast can collectors.
