Regal Pale Beer Flat Top Can

Regal Pale Beer Flat Top Overview

The Regal Pale Beer Flat Top Can was produced by the Regal Amber Brewing Company, located in the Mission District of San Francisco, California. Following the post-Prohibition era, the brewery grew to become one of Northern California's prominent regional brewing operations, eventually making the Regal Pale label its flagship offering.

Brewery Background

Originally founded as the Regal Products Company before becoming the Regal Amber Brewing Company, the facility on 20th Street was a well-known fixture of San Francisco's brewing industry. By the post-World War II era, the company concentrated heavily on its Regal Pale brand. The brewery achieved widespread West Coast recognition through aggressive marketing campaigns, regional sports sponsorships, and memorable media advertisements.

Can Design and Attributes

Manufactured with the American Can Company's "Keglined" process, this flat top can features classic Regal Pale heraldry, bold mid-century typography, and metallic trim. The label prominently displays the San Francisco origin and Regal Amber mandatory information.

Collectors recognize multiple variations of this flat top, differentiated by characteristics such as the presence or absence of Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statements, variations in border coloring, and minor adjustments in mandatory text layout.

Collectibility

As an enduring artifact of Northern California brewing history, the Regal Pale Beer flat top is a core piece for West Coast breweriana enthusiasts. It represents the height of San Francisco's regional canning era prior to the plant's corporate renaming to the Regal Pale Brewing Company and its eventual closure in the early 1960s.
