Regal Pale emerged as the brewery's primary brand in the post-World War II period, following the earlier success of its pre-war Regal Amber line. Marketed as a refreshing, approachable regional beer, it was widely distributed across California and neighboring western states. The "NOW...for that Regal Feeling" campaign was featured prominently across newspaper advertisements, television broadcasts, and cardboard carry packs throughout the late 1950s, aiming to connect the brand with relaxation and sociable leisure.

The brewery operated out of a facility located at 3250 20th Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. Tracing its heritage back to the Pacific Brewing & Malting Company in the 1910s, the enterprise survived Prohibition by producing non-alcoholic beverages under the Regal Products Company name. After Repeal, it was reorganized as the Regal Amber Brewing Company, quickly establishing itself as one of Northern California's largest and most modern independent breweries. In the mid-1950s, the business adopted the Regal Pale Brewing Company name to match its flagship beer. However, escalating pressure from well-funded national brewing conglomerates led to declining regional market share, prompting the plant to close in the early 1960s.

Among breweriana collectors, mid-century pint cans from California regional breweries are a staple of West Coast collecting.
