Regal Select Light Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Regal Select 16 Oz Can Overview

The Regal Select Light Beer 16 oz tab top can represents a classic West Coast label issued under the General Brewing banner in San Francisco, California. Originating from San Francisco's extensive brewing heritage after the cessation of the historic Regal Pale Brewing Company, the Regal Select brand was maintained and distributed by General Brewing.

Design and Graphics

This 16-ounce tall pint can features the traditional Regal branding adapted for larger volume distribution. The front and back panels showcase bold lettering identifying the brand alongside the "Light Beer" designation. Decorated with crisp metallic accents and clean typography, the aesthetic was tailored to provide strong shelf presence across regional West Coast markets.

Brewery Mandatories and Variations

Because General Brewing operated multiple facilities along the Pacific coast—including plants in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, Washington—cans exist with differing mandatory statements and city configurations. Known variations among these 16 oz cans feature distinct mandatory text arrangements, state-specific disclosures, and slight differences in canning press markings.

Breweriana Significance

Within breweriana collecting, 16-ounce tall cans from major West Coast regional operations hold a dedicated following. The Regal Select 16 oz can serves as an enduring artifact of San Francisco's multi-brewery packaging history during the high point of regional can manufacturing.
