Reidenbach Extra Dry Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Canadian Ace Reidenbach History

The Reidenbach Extra Dry Beer tab top can represents a notable chapter in the history of the Canadian Ace Brewing Company, located in Chicago, Illinois. Originally operating as the Manhattan Brewing Company before its postwar name change, Canadian Ace became well known for its prolific contract canning operations, packaging private labels and regional brands alongside its proprietary lines.

Reidenbach Extra Dry was one of several distinct brands packaged at the Canadian Ace facility to serve contract distribution networks. The can's design reflects mid-century commercial branding, featuring structured typography, prominent central banner lettering, and balanced metallic and colored trim. While the Reidenbach name was utilized across different facilities over the years—including Midwestern and Western brewing plants—examples bearing the Canadian Ace mandatory text specifically tie the label to Chicago's industrial brewing footprint.

Among collectors of regional packaging, variations exist that display minor differences in brewery mandatory text, canning manufacturer markings, and trim coloration across different production runs. Because Canadian Ace concluded operations in the late 1960s, this container stands as a representative artifact of contract brewing history and regional label marketing from the era.
