Rheingold Beer Quart

Liebmann's Rheingold Quart Can

Produced by Liebmann Breweries, Inc. of New York, New York, the Rheingold Beer quart represents a celebrated chapter in East Coast brewing history. Hailing from Brooklyn's vibrant brewing district, Liebmann Breweries expanded Rheingold into a powerhouse brand that captured a major share of the New York regional market. The company supported this presence with extensive advertising drives, including the famed Miss Rheingold contests and widespread promotional campaigns across the metropolitan area.

The 32-ounce quart format offered consumers a larger packaged volume featuring Rheingold's recognizable mid-century lithography. The can showcases traditional heraldic branding, intricate crest motifs, bold typography, and American Can Company "Keglined" patent panels.

Advanced breweriana collectors recognize differences across production runs, with variations featuring changes in mandatory brewery statements, shifts between Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) and non-IRTP labeling, and slight typographical adjustments across the seam and face.

Beyond collector shelves, Rheingold cans share a notable connection to New York City infrastructure. Due to the brand's immense popularity among mid-century trade workers, cans were frequently left behind within structural steel columns during landmark construction projects across the city, only to be rediscovered decades later during architectural renovations.
