Rheingold Extra Dry Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Miss Rheingold Contest Can

The Rheingold Extra Dry Lager Beer flat top can featuring Tami Connor is part of the famous Miss Rheingold promotional series produced by Liebmann Breweries. Bearing the brewery's Orange, New Jersey mandatory, this 12-ounce can highlights one of the most celebrated advertising campaigns in mid-century American brewing.

The Miss Rheingold Campaign

Beginning in the 1940s, Liebmann Breweries turned its annual Miss Rheingold competition into a cultural phenomenon. In what became one of the largest public balloting events outside of political elections, millions of beer drinkers cast ballots at taverns, grocery stores, and package shops across the brewery's distribution network. To promote voting, Liebmann Breweries issued cans displaying portrait photographs of the finalists.

Tami Connor's Contest Appearance

Tami Connor was selected as a finalist in the race for Miss Rheingold 1957. Like other candidate cans from the election, this container was produced as part of the nationwide push to introduce the contenders to consumers. While Margie McNally ultimately won the crown for that year, candidate cans such as the Tami Connor portrait remain prized among enthusiasts seeking to complete full sets of the Miss Rheingold portrait releases.
