Rheingold Genuine Bock Flat Top Can

Liebmann’s Orange Bock Flat Top

The Rheingold Genuine Bock flat top can originating from Liebmann Breweries, Inc. in Orange, New Jersey, represents a notable chapter in East Coast breweriana history. While Liebmann was famously centered in Brooklyn, New York, the firm expanded its manufacturing footprint by acquiring the former John F. Trommer brewing facility in Orange, utilizing the plant to satisfy soaring regional demand.

As a seasonal spring release, Rheingold Genuine Bock was canned in far smaller numbers than the company’s year-round Extra Dry lager. The exterior lithography showcases the traditional Rheingold script against a rich backdrop adorned with traditional bock crests and heraldic detailing. Most examples carry the American Can Company trademark along with the distinctive "Keglined" insignia.

For collectors of regional breweriana, the Orange, New Jersey mandatory statement is a key point of interest, distinguishing these issues from the more widespread Brooklyn plant pressings. Collectors track subtle variations across production runs, including changes between tax-paid and non-tax-paid stamps, differences in the scale and placement of the primary brand typography, and slight formatting changes in the plant text. The combination of seasonal distribution and regional brewery attribution makes this container an appealing centerpiece for mid-Atlantic beer can collections.
