Rheingold Genuine Bock Flat Top Can

Liebmann's Seasonal Bock Can

Produced by Liebmann Breweries, Inc. of New York, the Rheingold Genuine Bock flat top represents a celebrated chapter in New York brewing history. Headquartered in Brooklyn, Liebmann was one of the largest brewing powerhouses in the metropolitan area, commanding major market share throughout the mid-20th century.

Unlike the brewery's standard year-round offerings, bock was produced as a seasonal release. Because it was canned in significantly smaller quantities and sold during a limited window, surviving Genuine Bock cans are much harder for breweriana collectors to find than the brewery's widely distributed flagship lager cans.

The can features clean lithography showcasing the distinctive Rheingold script and traditional bock motifs. The vast majority were produced by the American Can Company, bearing the company's trademark "Keglined" insignia near the seam.

Collectors recognize several known manufacturing variations of the Rheingold Genuine Bock can. These differences reflect regulatory updates and subtle aesthetic revisions over time. Some examples carry the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statement, while others do not. Typographical differences also exist across production runs, such as variations in the height and proportion of the prominent capital letter "R" in the Rheingold name, as well as slight layout adjustments to the mandatory brewery text.
