Rheingold Genuine Bock Flat Top Can

Rheingold Genuine Bock Flat Top

The Rheingold Genuine Bock flat top can represents a classic seasonal offering from Liebmann Breweries, originating from New York, New York. Liebmann Breweries, established in Brooklyn, grew into one of the dominant brewing powerhouses in the northeastern United States. While the company achieved massive commercial fame with its flagship Rheingold Extra Dry lager, its seasonal bock releases provided a traditional specialty option for consumers.

Bock beers in mid-century American brewing were traditionally released in late winter and early spring to celebrate the season. Rheingold Genuine Bock featured bold graphic presentation tailored to this tradition, proudly displaying the genuine bock designation on the label. The can was produced by the American Can Company under their "Keglined" manufacturing process.

For breweriana collectors, seasonal issues such as bocks are particularly notable because they were packaged in far more limited quantities than standard year-round beers. While Liebmann operated facilities in Orange, New Jersey, cans bearing the New York declaration remain especially sought after by collectors of historic metropolitan New York breweriana. Variations in city mandatory text and factory canning marks exist across the brewery's production runs.
