Royal Bohemian Style Extra Pale Beer Cone Top Can

Royal Bohemian Cone Top History

Produced by the Duluth Brewing & Malting Company in Duluth, Minnesota, the Royal Bohemian Style Extra Pale Beer cone top represents an important era of midwestern regional brewing. Duluth Brewing & Malting was one of the prominent commercial breweries anchoring the Lake Superior port city, distributing canned beer across Minnesota and surrounding Upper Midwest markets.

Branding and Graphics

The can features the brewery's signature "Royal Bohemian" brand name set against high-contrast labeling. It prominently incorporates the marketing slogan "Treat Yourself Royally," emphasizing the brand's regal naming convention alongside crown and crest decorative motifs. Like many cans manufactured by the Continental Can Company during this era, it utilizes a high-profile cone top construction topped with a standard crown cap closure.

Collector Notes and Variations

Within breweriana collecting, this can is recognized as a staple of northern Minnesota brewing history. Collectors catalog several variations of the container, primarily distinguished by statutory text differences and manufacturing markings. Variations include versions bearing specific regulatory alcohol declarations—such as "Strong" markings or low-point 3.2% statements—as well as cans produced with and without the federal Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) text line. Subtle changes in factory stampings and metallic paint detailing also differentiate issues from different manufacturing runs.
