Ruppert Knick. New York's Beer Pint Can

New York's Famous 16 oz Classic

Brewed by the historic Jacob Ruppert Brewery in New York City, the Ruppert Knick. New York's Beer Pint Can represents a prominent chapter in mid-century East Coast breweriana. The Jacob Ruppert Brewery, founded in Manhattan's Yorkville neighborhood in 1867, grew into one of the largest brewing powerhouses in the United States. Colonel Jacob Ruppert Jr., who famously owned the New York Yankees during the era of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, firmly established the Knickerbocker brand into New York sporting and cultural life.

This 16-ounce pint can prominently displays the celebrated slogan identifying Knickerbocker as "New York's Famous Beer," reflecting the company's aggressive post-Prohibition marketing campaigns. As consumer demand shifted toward larger serving sizes alongside modern home refrigeration, Ruppert supplemented standard twelve-ounce cans with these half-quart pint releases to supply taverns and retailers alike.

The graphics reflect Ruppert's signature mid-century branding, characterized by bold lettering and tavern-ready appeal. Known variations of this pint can exist from different manufacturing runs, featuring slight modifications in text coloration, statutory labeling, and can manufacturer stamps. For collectors of metropolitan New York breweriana, this 16-ounce can remains an enduring symbol of Manhattan's commercial brewing legacy.
