Ruppert Knickerbocker Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Ruppert Knickerbocker 16 Oz Can

The Ruppert Knickerbocker Beer 16 oz can stands as a prominent piece of New York brewing history from the Jacob Ruppert Brewery, historically situated in Manhattan's Yorkville neighborhood. Knickerbocker served as the brewery's flagship label, promoted across the Northeast under well-known slogans such as "New York's Famous Beer" and "Have a Knick."

Brewery Heritage & Cultural Lore

The Jacob Ruppert Brewery earned a storied place in American culture through its principal leader, Colonel Jacob Ruppert Jr. In addition to expanding the family's enterprise into one of the largest brewing operations in the eastern United States, Ruppert purchased the New York Yankees, acquired Babe Ruth, and financed the construction of Yankee Stadium. Knickerbocker was also deeply connected to New York sports broadcasting, famously sponsoring New York Giants baseball games at the Polo Grounds.

Design & Collector Interest

Produced in the larger 16-ounce half-quart ("One Pint" or "King Size") format, this can offered an expanded serving size beyond standard retail packaging. The can's graphics prominently display the traditional Father Knickerbocker emblem alongside bold barred banner typography and the classic Jacob Ruppert New York branding.

For breweriana collectors, oversized cans from the Jacob Ruppert line carry notable appeal. Variations exist across different production runs, distinguished by subtle differences in mandatory brewery text, regional city listings, and graphic border accents reflecting shifting canning operations throughout the label's history.
